California Native Groundovers

Ceanothus 'Centennial'

California natives come in all sizes and shapes with many of them working as attractive groundcovers. A few suggestions appear below. Asarum (Wild Ginger), Blechnum (Deer Fern), Dicentra (Western Bleeding Heart), Fragaria vesca (Woodland Strawberry), Oxalis oregana (Redwood Sorrel) and Satureja douglasii (Yerba Buena) all prefer shade but the rest will grow in full sun or light shade. All have links to their description pages for more information.
