cork oak
This oak from the Mediterranean region has moderate growth to 30 feet in windy locations, 50 feet or more in sheltered areas. Trunks and major limbs are covered with a thick bark that is used to make corks. Can handle salt winds, and desert heat but needs good drainage, quite drought tolerant once established.
